Hi my hero 8 lcd is not working while battery is inside the cam, if battery is removed and the camera is plug in with charger the screen is working. I cannot used the hero 8 while it is always plug in the charger. Please help. Thank you
There's an icon on the back of the camera when you swipe down, it's for adjusting the front display view from "full" to "camera" basically one shows a full square image, the other shows the actual wide screen image with basic info in the black bars, but one option is to turn off the front display completely.
I'm running into the same issue but I suspect it's due to the 10 bit color. 8 bit color video worked fine for me. Your GoPro can record in 5.3K 60FPS in 10 bit color. I have seen this problem all over the internet and no real solution posted. I bought a gopro 5 Black and plugged it into the windows 10 laptop. It is not recognized. I plug it into a windows 7 system with same hardware and it comes up. The gopro support does not post a solution to the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, JRX

GoPro does not admit to a defect they are now requesting those who have the black screen and or any issue to right away upload firmware. and make sure a recommended card is used.
Steps: 1 - Record a video in 4K for at least 1-2 minutes. 2 - Stop Recording. 3 - quickly go to the review screen and start watching the video you just recorded. 4 - quickly start recording a new video (straight from the review screen - do not go back to the live view screen) 5 - It should freeze.
