The LM1's showed very little of the boxy sound that plagues units of this type. For HT use they excelled again, blending well with the B&W CDM center. Bowers & Wilkins recently updated its entire CM Series lineup. Brent Butterworth sits down with the CM1 S2 mini-monitor, which at $1,100/pair is the least expensive model in the group. Most manufacturers would rate an $1100 speaker as reaching down into the mid-50s Hz, at least. 69 Hz is more like a compact bookshelf LF rating than a floorstander. But the CM8 never sounded bass-shy on any material and the bass quality was extraordinary in every respect.
